State of the City Address 2023

The annual Maple Grove State of the City address is a great opportunity for Mayor Steffenson to thank our citizens, businesses, and community leaders for another great year. In this video feature, the mayor:

  •  Recaps 2022 achievements
  • Shares what’s to come in 2023, including a significant investment in various city facilities
  • Highlights the continued development, particularly in the Arbor Lakes area as well as the northwest part of Maple Grove
  • Encourages citizen engagement and enjoyment of the many community activities

Council overview

Maple Grove is a community legally established under the laws of Minnesota. It is governed by a mayor who serves a four-year term and four councilmembers who also serve four-year terms. City councilmembers serve at large. City elections coincide with the general elections held in the fall of all even numbered years.

The mayor and councilmembers are responsible for approving operating and capital improvement budgets, employing city workers, establishing city regulations and ordinances, maintaining public facilities, and planning the city's future. The chief of staff for the City Council is City Administrator Heidi Nelson, who can be contacted at 763-494-6010.
